Book by Sports University of Haryana VC released
The seventh edition of the widely acclaimed book “Challenges to Internal Security of India”, authored by former DGP of Uttarakhand and present Vice Chancellor of the Sports University of Haryana, Rai, Sonepat, Ashok Kumar, was released on Tuesday at Hansraj College, University of Delhi.
Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who was present at the ceremony, underlined the book’s relevance to national interest and emphasised that India’s internal security is influenced by multiple dimensions.
“This book will serve as a guiding resource for students, aspirants of civil services, and policymakers alike. Internal security is not just confined to India—it has both national and international significance. Common citizens must also develop awareness, because without their vigilance, the government alone cannot effectively tackle grave issues like terrorism, left-wing extremism, drug trafficking, and illegal infiltration,” said Khattar, adding that their government has significantly curbed challenges in Kashmir, Naxalism, and insurgency in the North-East.
Speaking about his book, author Ashok Kumar said, “This work addresses critical issues like Kashmir, Naxalism and terrorism, while reinforcing a fundamental truth—that national security cannot be left solely to the police or armed forces. The book has consistently ranked as the number-1 choice among UPSC aspirants and has generated extensive discussion across academic and professional circles. With each edition, we have endeavoured to add fresh insights and practical relevance. This seventh and latest edition is particularly significant as it connects core issues directly with contemporary developments.”
