Rohtak, October 4
Congress workers on Monday submitted a memorandum to the Governor through Rohtak SDM Rakesh Kumar, seeking the registration of a sedition case against the CM for his ‘anti-farmers’ remark in a video that went viral on social media on Sunday.
The workers were jointly led by former ministers Subhash Batra and Krishanmurti Hooda.
In the memorandum, they also criticised the UP Government for not allowing Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi to meet the kin of the farmers who died in the violence at Lakhimpur Kheri village.
Batra and Hooda said the UP Police had strangulated democracy by taking Priyanka into custody without any fault while CM Manohal Lal Khattar wanted to trigger violence by making ‘objectionable’ statements related to the ongoing farmers’ agitation.
Earlier, the protesters carrying placards also took out a march from Ambedkar Chowk to the mini secretariat in Rohtak city.
In Jhajjar, the Congress workers led by former minister Geeta Bhukkal submitted the memorandum to the district authorities while the workers burnt the CM’s effigy in Rewari.
