Faridabad, August 3
The rainy season has perhaps started reflecting its impact on the power supply situation here. A surge in the complaints of breakdowns and disruptions in supply in both the domestic and industrial sectors has surfaced. The circle has around 6.75 lakh consumers at present.
With around 4,400 complaints surfacing in the past two days, the numbers of cuts or outages have doubled in the recent past, claim sources in the DHBVN. As the city has witnessed an increase in the demand for electricity, the breakdowns in the supply network have led to outages and a rise in complaints.
The complaints attended by the department have been related to tripping of the transformers due to overloading, breakdowns in parts like jumpers and conductors, insulators, tree touching and cable box damage. Though there is no shortage of power with the department, the fault may have been due to weak infrastructure, said an official.
“The supply gets disconnected as soon as the downpour begins and no one knows when it will resume. Power cuts of as long as 12 hours at a stretch made the residents suffer in the recent past,” said Ajay Bahl, a resident of Sector 9. Meanwhile, DHBVN SE Naresh Kakkar said faults, which may lead to problem, were being attended immediately.
