Breakers, spikes installed at Sirhaul border to stop farmers from reaching Delhi

In order to stop farmers from reaching Delhi, the police installed concrete barricades and tyre-killer spikes at the Sirhaul border on Thursday. Prior to this, these spikes were also installed at the Kapashera border two days ago.

These steel spikes, which are part of large plastic units, can be activated by using an inbuilt mechanism; normal traffic, thus, can pass over these breakers without damage to the tyres, but when the farmers’ vehicles arrive, the spikes can be activated.

The district administrations officials said the vehicular movement was smooth and the situation was not tense anywhere in the district. These breakers would burst the tyres of farmers’ vehicles entering Delhi. The situation has been tense on many borders of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh adjoining Delhi for three days. Apart from Udyog Vihar, DLF Phase 3, Bilaspur, Kundli–Manesar–Palwal Expressway (KMP) Expressway, police teams of Pataudi and Farrukhnagar are on alert.

DCP (Traffic) Virendra Vij said there was no tension on the Sirhaul, Kapashera and Mehrauli borders.
