Karnal, November 13

Cricket legend and Cochlear’s Global Hearing Ambassador Brett Lee took part in a state-level programme to create awareness on hearing loss, encourage Universal New-born Hearing Screening (UNHS) and the need for early screening and intervention for children with profound hearing loss, here today. Dr Sanjay Khanna, ENT consultant surgeon, Dr Iqbal Singh, IMA president, Karnal and Dr Tejinder Khanna, IMA Secretary Karnal, also joined him.

Brett Lee said “I want to use this platform to draw attention to the growing incidence of hearing loss and raise awareness about Universal Newborn Hearing Screening (UNHS) programme. I believe that each individual must have the right to enjoy the sounds of everyday life. No one in this world deserves to live in silence. UNHS can help address these issues early in life. Medical fraternity and institutions like IMA should actively participate to raise awareness amongst masses at state level about the diagnosis and appropriate treatment options for the hearing loss.” — TNS
