Brijendra Singh to launch ‘Sadbhav Yatra’ from October 5
Cong leader invites all senior party members to join march for unity
Former Hisar MP Brijendra Singh is set to embark on a ‘Sadbhav Yatra’ from October 5, beginning at Danoda village in the Narwana constituency. In its first phase, the march will cover 14 constituencies before expanding across all 90 constituencies of Haryana.
Inspired by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Singh said the yatra is aimed at countering the divisive politics of the BJP. “Sadbhav, meaning harmony, has come under stress in the past decade, as the BJP has exacerbated caste, regional and communal discord in Haryana. The primary aim of the Sadbhav Yatra is to revive bhaichara (brotherhood) in Haryanvi society,” he said.
The march will highlight both national and regional issues, including alleged ‘vote chori’ (electoral malpractice), unemployment, paper leaks, poor law and order, agrarian distress, grievances of government employees, the new army recruitment process and what Singh described as a deterioration of democratic institutions.
Calling the campaign a people’s movement, Singh said, “Congress has always believed in unity and today Haryana needs bhaichara more than ever. This Yatra is not just a political march; it is a people’s mission to restore harmony and to raise the voice of farmers, workers, youth, traders and women. Through the Sadbhav Yatra, we are marching together to reclaim the spirit of brotherhood and justice across all 36 biradaris (communities) of Haryana.”
The padyatra will cover 2,600 to 2,800 km over six to seven months. Its slogan — “Congress ka Haath, Bhaichaare ke Saath” — seeks to unite people under the banner of social harmony. The yatra’s logo, featuring two rising hands (orange for valour and sacrifice, green for agriculture and prosperity), carries the Congress hand at its centre within a Tricolour circle to symbolise inclusivity and unity.
The yatra, Singh added, would also serve to mobilise and energise Congress workers after the 2024 Assembly elections. He extended congratulations to Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Rao Narender Singh on their appointments as CLP leader and PCC president, respectively.
Responding to questions, Singh clarified that the march is being organised under the Congress flag. “I have invited all MPs, Lok Sabha candidates of 2024, MLAs, and MLA candidates of the October 2024 Assembly polls. All senior leaders, including Hooda and Rao Narender Singh, have been called for the march,” he said.
