Budding artists depict Sirsa’s essence on paper

A unique artwork that captures the culture, identity, and development of Sirsa district was unveiled on Friday.

Created by Nisha and Priyanka, students of PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School, Baragudha, the piece of art reflects the collective vision of over 200 young artists who participated in painting competitions held across government schools. The final piece was developed under the guidance of art teacher Praveen Rani.

Students were encouraged to express their views about Sirsa through their artworks.

The best elements from their submissions were combined into a single large work of art.

Each letter of the word ‘Sirsa’ in the artwork represents a key feature of the district. A fighter jet at the top symbolises the strength of the Sirsa Air Force Station. ‘S’ showcases kinnow fruit and horticulture; ‘I’ highlights the spiritual heritage through the famous Sarsai Nath Temple; ‘R’ focuses on hardworking farmers and their contributions to agriculture; the second ‘S’ portrays Sirsa’s prominence in white shrimp farming; and ‘A’ represents education and hockey, underlining the district’s contribution to sports at the international level. The artwork was officially unveiled by Sirsa ADC Lakshit Sareen during a press conference at the Mini-Secretariat. He said the initiative was aimed at showcasing how students perceived their district and fostering creativity among the youth.
