On the second day of the CBSE North Zone-2 Archery Championship being held under the aegis of the CBSE at Purna Murti Global School, the young archers showcased their talent by hitting the target accurately.

In the competitions of different age groups, the boys and girls of the state participated enthusiastically. On Tuesday, Ashok Kumar, former DGP of Uttarakhand and Vice- Chancellor, Sports University, Haryana, encouraged the archers. Chairman Dr Vijaypal Nain, secretary Gautam Nain, school Principal Himani Dahiya and Vice-Principal Varun welcomed the Vice Chancellor. In the five-day championship, 2,000 young archers from Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir are participating.

Encouraging the young archers, Ashok Kumar said today sports were not limited to the field, but it was opening new career opportunities for the youth by connecting with education, science and technology. Sports was a medium of respect, identity and self-reliance. The last decade was a golden chapter in Indian sports history, which included record-breaking achievements and increasing global recognition. Indian players had shown their prowess by performing brilliantly in the Olympics and paralympics. A better future could also be made in the field of archery. A large number of archers such as Olympian Deepika Kumari, Jayanta Talukdar, Limba Ram, Dola Banerjee, Tarundeep Rai, Atanu Das have made their future through sports.

In the Under-19 recurve (70m) individual competition for boys, Saurav of Narwana, Jind, came first, Nischay Nandal of Rohtak came second and Shubham of Narwana, Jind, came third.

In the Under-19 recurve team competition for boys, the team of DAV Police School Narwana, Jind, came first. Saurav, Shubham and Vishwadeep led their team to victory.

In the Under-19 recurve individual competition for girls, Tamanna Gulia of Faridabad came first, Anuranjani Ahlawat of Jhajjar came second and Ayesha third.

In the Under-19 recurve team competition for girls, Amity International School, Gurgaon, came first.

This team included Yashvini Ambavata, Anvi Goyal and Gauri Bhadana team of Vedas International School, Gurgaon, came second. The team included Risha Mehta, Ayesha and Kashika.

In the Under-19 recurve mixed team competition, the team of Amity International School, Gurgaon, stood first due to the excellent performance of Sameeksha Makhija and Yashwini Ambavata.
