Bureau uploads 57K prints, solves 111 cases

The State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB), Haryana, has uploaded more than 57,000 fingerprint records to the National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS) software in 2024, which have so far helped solve 111 criminal cases, including 35 serious murder cases.

Using the same technology, 16 unidentified bodies were identified in 2024 and 15 more in 2025 so far, thereby resolving several old and pending cases. This initiative underscores the police’s role in crime control, transparency in the justice system, and scientific policing.

DGP Shatrujeet Kapur congratulated the police on this achievement and encouraged them to continue delivering excellence. To strengthen criminal identification on a scientific and technological foundation, the police have established Measurement Collection Units at 31 different locations across the state. The objective of these units is to collect biometric, photographic and physical measurement data of offenders and digitise it for upload to the National Crime Database.
