A park will also be developed along the Kachha Beri road on the campus to enhance the green cover.
The old bus stand was shifted from here to Azadgarh area two decades ago. It led to adverse effects on the business of nearby areas and many small traders had to shift their shops to other locations as visitors from nearby villages and other places were their main customers whose count went drastically down following the shifting of the bus stand.
“The shopping complex will be developed over 7 acres of land on the old bus stand campus. It will have a three-storey building. As many as 18 shops will be constructed on the corner sites while 21 booths will be built on the first floor. Six kiosks will also be set up besides milk booths. This shopping center will be ready in the next four months. Thereafter, the shops will be allotted by the Haryana Shahri Vikas Pradhikaran,” an official said.
Former minister Manish Grover and officials recently inspected the project site. Grover said the state government had always prioritised the interests of traders.
“The setting up of a new market in this area will not only provide facilities to people but also create new employment opportunities for the youth. More projects will come up on the old bus stand campus to make it a main hub of commercial activities in the city,” Grover added.
