The Gurugram police have arrested a cab driver for allegedly robbing a woman passenger at gunpoint.

The woman lodged a complaint in this regard. As per the complaint, the woman booked a cab from Airia Mall to Microtech Greenberg, Sector 86, on November 29. When she reached Sector 83, the cab driver pointed a gun at her and made her transfer a sum of Rs 55,000 from her mobile phone. The cab driver fled the spot after taking her suitcase.

A case under relevant sections of the BNS was registered in this regard at the Kherki Daula police station. The police initiated investigations into the matter and arrested the cab driver on Sunday.

The suspect has been identified as Sonu Singh, a native of Kohta village in Jalon district, Uttar Pradesh. He was living in a rented accommodation at Badha village here.

“The suspect was today produced in the court, which sent him to one-day police remand. We will interrogate the suspect to recover the stolen items,” said a police spokesperson.
