The state government has decided to recruit 2,000 special police officers (SPOs) for which preference will be given to ex-servicemen of Army/CAPFs and ex-constables of disbanded HSISF/HAP battalion.

Other key decisions

  • Framing of the Service Rules, 2022, titled the Transport Department Haryana (Group A) Service Rules, 2022
  • Framing of service rules for Group-A and B posts of the Haryana State Information Commission

The state Cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar here today, accorded approval to a proposal for engaging 2,000 SPOs across the state against vacant constable-rank posts under Section 21 of the Haryana Police Act.

The SPOs will be employed for one year or up to the date of appointment of persons on regular basis, whichever is earlier.

The SPOs’ selection will be made via an interview by a board comprising the district Superintendent of Police as its chairperson and the Deputy Superintendent of Police concerned.

In case of death of an SPO, an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh will be given to the family concerned; in case of permanent disability, the compensation will vary from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3 lakh; and in case of grave injury, an amount up to Rs 1 lakh will be payable. The minimum educational qualification for the post will be plus-two.

As many as 11,664 posts of constable are vacant in the state.

The Cabinet also approved renewal of block guarantee of Rs 1,000 crore for floating debentures/loan raised by the Haryana State Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank Limited.

The Cabinet also accorded approval to the proposal regarding the framing of the Service Rules, 2022, titled the Transport Department Haryana (Group A) Service Rules, 2022.

It also okayed a proposal regarding the framing of service rules for Group-A and B posts of the Haryana State Information Commission. These rules might be called The Haryana State Information Commission (Group A) Service Rules, 2022, and The Haryana State Information Commission (Group B) Service Rules, 2022.
