Call centre harassing people over bank loan recovery busted, 8 held

The Gurugram police have busted a call centre of a bank loan recovery agency in the Dabdi area. The call centre’s workers were harassing residents by using abusive language, sending obscene voice notes and making repeated automated calls through auto-dialer machines.

A total of eight accused, including seven women and the call centre operator, were arrested. As many as 10 mobile phones, 26 SIM cards, one dialer machine and one laptop were seized from the call centre.

According to the police, a woman had filed a complaint on September 12, following which, an FIR was registered at the Cyber-crime Police Station (East).

The accused were identified as Gazala (20), Isha (24), Kahkasha (26), Mauris (26), Mukesh (35), Reena (28), Roshni (27) and Rosy (23), all residents of Delhi. Chauhan had been operating the call centre for the last two years.

“They would indulge in mental harassment by making automated calls through auto-dialer machines. Chauhan revealed that he received 17 per cent commission from the bank on every loan recovery and gave three per cent commission to the accused women working with him,” the ACP concerned said.
