The Haryana State Rights Protection Commission is organising awareness camps in schools across the district to educate students on important safety topics. These camps cover subjects like kidnapping, missing children, Juvenile Justice Act (JJ Act), Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, self-defence, cyber crime and school van safety regulations.

On Wednesday, such camps were held at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Rania, and Genius Senior Secondary School, Rania. Haryana State Rights Protection Commission members Anil Lather and Shyam Shukla attended the event as chief guests, alongside officials from the police, Child Welfare Committee, Juvenile Justice Board, District Child Protection Unit and the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit.

Anil Lather emphasised school van safety rules, citing a recent accident in Mahendragarh, and stressed the importance of awareness to prevent such incidents. He announced that the commission would inspect private school vans in Sirsa in November, with strict action against rule violators. He also informed students about their rights and the help available through helplines like 112 and 1098.

Shyam Shukla educated students on the dangers of cyber crime and advised them to limit mobile phone use to educational purposes. He also demonstrated self-defence techniques and encouraged students to prioritise education.

During the event, girls from The Genius Senior Secondary School showcased their self-defence skills, learnt from a recent training under the ‘Dhaakad’ campaign. A student from the Government Girls School recited a poem on sexual harassment, adding depth to the awareness session.
