A 15-day winter school for the revision of science and mathematics syllabi for students of various government schools near Damla was organised by Seth Jai Prakash Polytechnic, Damla. The programme was sponsored by the Society for Promotion of Science and Technology in India (SPSTI). Dharambir, former Chief Secretary of Haryana and President of SPSTI, was the chief guest along with Prof Keya Dharambir, retired Professor of Physics, Punjab University, Chandigarh and Secretary of SPSTI. The Principal of Polytechnic, Anil Kumar, extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries and thanked the SPSTI for adopting Damla and making all efforts to provide quality education to government school students of this area for their uplift and successful career. The winter school aimed at providing focused guidance to students in the two subjects, helping them strengthen their conceptual understanding and excel academically. The sessions were mentored by guides Udit and Priyanshu.
Guv releases DCRUST calendar
Sonepat: Haryana Governor and Chancellor of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology, Murthal, Bandaru Dattatreya released the university’s calendar for the year 2025 at Haryana Raj Bhavan, Chandigarh, on Friday. Governor Dattatreya congratulated and extended his best wishes to students, teachers and staff of the university for the year 2025. On this occasion, the Vice-Chancellor gave detailed information to the Governor about the academic plans and development work being done by the university. The Governor said that DCRUST was a prestigious university and the government was committed to ensuring its development. He assured the Vice-Chancellor of giving every possible guidance for the development of the university. Vice-Chancellor Prof Singh said that both Indian and English months would be seen in the Haryana calendar of the university. Apart from this, Indian dates have also been given. A list of holidays, optional holidays and special holidays have also been given in the calendar. He said that apart from this, some pictures of the university’s activities have also been included in the calendar. The calendar design includes pictures of the all-round development of students in the university — academic, sports and cultural fields.
Startup colloquium brochure out
Kurukshetra: On the occasion of the brochure release ceremony of the startup colloquium to be organised by the University School of Management of Kurukshetra University on February 21-22, 2025, Vice-Chancellor Prof Som Nath Sachdeva said, “I believe that this startup colloquium will help the youth achieve the self-reliant India model.” Prof Sachdeva further said that through startups, the youth could make a significant contribution to the economic prosperity of the country by taking steps towards self-reliance through innovation and entrepreneurship. Prof Sachdeva said that to make the youth self-employed and self-reliant and to promote the culture of startups, innovation and entrepreneurship, two incubation centres, including KU Technology Incubation Centre, Employment Generation Centre, Centre for Training, Internship and Employment have been established in the university. Prof Sachdeva added that in making a developed nation and self-reliant India, students will have to move towards self-employment through startup, innovation, entrepreneurship, internship.
Kite-flying activity organised
Yamunanagar: The Cultural Department of Guru Nanak Khalsa College, under the aegis of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organised a kite-flying activity to celebrate the festival of Makar Sankranti. The event brought together the faculty, staff and students of the college in a joyous and unified celebration of this auspicious occasion. The event was inaugurated by Dr Pratima Sharma, Officiating Principal of the College, who expressed her appreciation for such cultural activities that foster a spirit of community and togetherness. Dr Tilak Raj, coordinator of the cultural committee, highlighted the significance of such activities in promoting cultural harmony. The event saw the active participation of both teaching and non-teaching staff. Randeep Singh Jauhar, president of the governing body and managing committee of the college, highlighted that festivals like Makar Sankranti reminded people of the importance of family, community and tradition.
