Session on pulp and paper industry

Yamunanagar: Seth Jai Parkash Polytechnic, Damla, hosted an insightful session on the latest developments and innovations in the pulp and paper industry. The event was attended by eminent speakers Harri Mattila, PR Rolls Oy, Finland; Achim Kneifel, Wefapress, Germany; and Raghavan S Rathnam, New Horizon Enterprises, Bangalore.

Students shine at sports meet

Kutukshetra: Shri Krishna Ayush University, Kutukshetra, organised an inter-college sports competition. Students from various ayurvedic colleges of Haryana and Chandigarh participated in the event. Competitions were held in cricket, volleyball, basketball, kho-kho, kabaddi, and badminton. Chaudhary Devi Lal College of Ayurveda, Jagadhri, participated in cricket, volleyball, kho-kho, and badminton. Rashmi Kumari, in women’s badminton singles, and Rashmi and Himani in women’s doubles won the first position. In men’s badminton singles, Nayan, and in men’s doubles, Nayan and Ritik secured the second position. In men’s kho-kho, the college team bagged the second position. The management of Ch Devi Lal College of Ayurveda and the principal welcomed all the participants and congratulated them on their outstanding performance.

Sonepat: Prof Yogesh Chander Thakur, a distinguished academician and sports educationist, has been awarded the prestigious ‘International Eminence Award 2024’ for outstanding and innovative professor and dean in the school of physical education and sports. The award ceremony took place at Tokyo Gakugei University, Japan, in recognition of his exemplary contributions to the field of physical education and sports, upholding the highest standards of morality, honesty, civic accountability, and social responsibility. In his acceptance speech, Prof Yogesh emphasised his commitment to contributing to a Viksit Bharat and implementing the National Education Policy, 2020, in both letter and spirit. He outlined his vision to enhance sports infrastructure, organise sports competitions, develop talent, establish Khelo India Centres and sports academies, and promote inclusiveness through sports. With his remarkable contribution, the Sports University of Haryana, where he serves as dean, has grown to offer 19 sports education programmes, making it the fastest-growing sports university in the country. He envisions creating specialised research centres of sports science, including biomechanics, sports psychology, doping control, exercise physiology, etc.
