Campus notes: 19 MDU researchers in int'l list
Nineteen researchers (including faculty members and research scholars) of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) have featured in the list of top 2 per cent international scientists released by Stanford University (USA) and Elsevier BV. Three faculty members associated with the MDU have been included in the datasets related to career research for their outstanding research contributions. They include Prof B Narsimhan (department of pharmaceutical sciences), Dr Sarvajeet Singh Gill (centre for biotechnology) and superannuated Professor Dr CS Pundir (biochemistry). The MDU teachers who feature in the list for their outstanding research contributions in a single year (2023) include Dr Narsingh Chauhan (biochemistry), Dr KK Sharma (microbiology), retired Prof JP Yadav (genetics), Dr Ramphul Ohlyan (IMSAR), Prof Sanju Nanda (pharmaceutical sciences), Prof Harish Dureja (pharmaceutical sciences), Prof Devender Singh (chemistry), retired Professor Dr Vinod Bala Taxak (chemistry), Dr Naveen Kumar (chemistry) and Dr Deepak Chabra (mechanical engineering, UIET). Six research scholars of the department of chemistry, including Dr Isha Gupta, Dr Sitender Singh, Dr Kapeesha Nehra, Dr Pawan Kumar, Dr Anuj Dalal and Dr Anjli Hooda have also featured in the list.
Legal literacy programme
Mahendragarh: Students of the Department of Law at Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendragarh, organised a legal literacy programme during a lok adalat at the District Courts in Narnaul. The event aimed at promoting legal awareness and educate litigants and common people about various socio-legal issues. Prof Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, and Dr Virender Prasad, District and Sessions Judge, Narnaul, appreciated the students' initiative and emphasised the importance of legal literacy in promoting social justice. Shailza Gupta, Chief Judicial Magistrate, ADR Centre, motivated the students to organise more such programmes for the benefit of society. Dr Pardeep Singh, dean and head, School of Law, said the students displayed informative posters, charts and pamphlets highlighting key aspects of the legal services. They also staged a play depicting common socio-legal problems faced by the community. The play also conveyed important legal messages of seeking justice and availing of the legal services.
