Campus notes: HAU signs MoU for millet promotion
Hisar: Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Murlidhar Seeds Corporation, Hyderabad, to promote the improved Bajra variety, HHB 67 Improved-2. This collaboration aims to commercially produce and distribute reliable seeds to farmers for enhancing yields. The HAU Vice Chancellor, Prof BR Kamboj, highlighted the importance of such agreements to expand the reach of university's improved millet (Bajra) varieties. The improved hybrid, developed through marker-assisted selection, offers better downy mildew resistance, drought tolerance and stable yields. Recommended for rain-fed regions in Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat, it promises an average grain yield of 8 quintals per acre and 20.9 quintals of dry fodder per acre.
Martyrs remembered at govt college
Hisar: A two-minute silence was observed by all staff members and students at the the Government College for Women (GCW) in memory of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for India's freedom struggle. While addressing the gathering on the occasion, College Principal Dr Satbir Sanga said, "We must never forget sacrifices made by brave martyrs. The main purpose of such programme is to remember their sacrifice while performing our duties properly and contributing to the nation's progress." Senior staff members Dr Elizabeth Kundu, Dr Neelam Dahiya, Dr Satender Yadav, Dr Shashi Kala Yadav and others were also present on the occasion
Students urged to attend classes
Hisar: Vice Chancellor (VC) of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUST) Prof Narsi Ram Bishnoi has given strict instructions that classes should be held regularly at the university. Teachers should arrive on time and encourage students to attend classes, he said. There should be no negligence in this regard, he said. The VC interacted with teachers and students from the biotechnology, botany, mechanical engineering, physics, Haryana school of business, commerce, geography, and law departments as part of the direct communication programme. He also visited departments’ laboratories and inquired about students' project work.
