Internship selection at RKSD College

Kaithal: RKSD College, in association with India Post, organised a summer internship selection programme under the joint coordination of the Department of Commerce, career guidance cell and placement cell. Ritu Barkhi and Sanjay Soni from India Post addressed students and shared insights on postal services, administration and career opportunities. Over 200 students from various streams participated in the selection process. Shortlisted candidates will be offered internships with India Post. College Principal Satyabir Mehla lauded the initiative for enhancing students' professional skills and readiness for careers in government sector.

Cybercrime awareness programme

Kurukshetra: An awareness programme was organised at Indira Gandhi National College, Ladwa, to educate students about dangers of cybercrime and raise awareness in society. College Principal Dr Kushal Pal said, "In today's digital age, while we are using the Internet, it is crucial to empower students not only from an educational perspective, but also from a moral and social standpoint." He urged students to remain vigilant about their safety and use digital platforms responsibly. The chief speaker, Ved Prakash, Sub-Inspector, Crime Branch, provided detailed insights into cybercrimes such as online fraud, identity theft, cyber bullying, harassment and other digital threats. He said, “Technological tools are merely instruments, but if misused, they can become dangerous for us.” He advised students to stay alert and aware. Addressing participants, legal literacy coordinator Sunita Rani focused on anti-trolling and bullying. She apprised students about women's dignity, laws concerning sexual harassment and their rights. She said, “Every woman has the right to respect and safety.”

Book on artificial intelligence released

Kurukshetra: Kurukshetra University Vice Chancellor, Prof Som Nath Sachdeva, released a book "Artificial Intelligence: Insights and Impacts." The book is a collaborative effort by Dr Nidhi Bagadia, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, Kurukshetra University; Sukhbir Singh, Senior Research Fellow, Department of Library and Information Science KU; Dr Ajay Kumar, Librarian at Markanda National College, Shahabad; and Dr Sanjeev Dhiman, Librarian at Geeta Niketan Residential School, Kurukshetra. Prof Sachdeva emphasised on the growing significance of artificial intelligence in today's world. He said, “AI is not just a hallmark of technological innovation, but a transformative tool impacting every sector. This book provides deep insights into these developments and addresses the challenges as well. It will be highly beneficial for students and researchers in the field.”

Online essay writing competition

Yamunanagar: To commemorate Science Education Day the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Department of Physics, Guru Nanak Khalsa College, organised a national level online essay writing competition aimed at fostering scientific inquiry and critical thinking among students. In all, 67 students from across Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh enthusiastically participated in the competition. Participants were invited to write on thought-provoking themes such as atomic particles and building blocks of the universe, AI in society, job trends in medical physics, scientific laws and theories, and integrated approach in science and technology for a sustainable future. Anjali from Krishan Lal Public College, Rewari, Jasanprit Kaur from University College, Chunni Kalan, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Kirti Sharma from GVM Girls College, Sonepat, stood first, second and third respectively, in the competition. Officiating Principal Dr Pratima Sharma lauded the initiative, while stating that engaging youths in such academic endeavours not only deepens their understanding, but also nurtures their scientific curiosity and creativity.
