Campus notes: Biotech training for School Students
Mahendragarh: The Department of Biotechnology at the Central University of Haryana (CUH), in collaboration with the STEM Cell, organised a hands-on training programme for students at Government Senior Secondary School, Akoda. CUH Vice-Chancellor Prof Tankeshwar Kumar encouraged students to strive for excellence and contribute to the vision of “Viksit Bharat”. During the programme, Dr Humira Sonah introduced the students to DNA’s role as genetic material and explained evolutionary processes. Research scholars demonstrated DNA extraction techniques and proper use of scientific equipment, offering a hands-on lab experience. Faculty members praised the initiative for bridging the gap between school education and higher academics.
Khalsa college lad shines at quiz
Yamunanagar: Aditya, a BA first-year student at Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Yamunanagar, showcased his brilliance in the road safety quiz competition organised by the Yamunanagar district administration. After clearing the first two rounds, Aditya emerged as the first runner-up in the third round, competing against 50 participants. He was felicitated by Deputy Superintendent of Police Kamaljeet during the event at DAV Public School. The college principal, Dr Pratima Sharma, congratulated Aditya and commended the efforts of the Road Safety Cell Coordinator Dr Anurag, alongside faculty members Prof Manisha, Prof Anika, and Prof Anuradha, for encouraging student participation. Governing Body chairman Sardar Randeep Singh Jauhar also lauded the achievement.
