Campus Notes: Book edited by professors

Kaithal: Ritu Walia and Suraj Walia from the department of economics at the RKSD College in collaboration with Geeta Goyal and Seema Gupta from the department of English edited a book titled ‘Women Empowerment in India: Perspective, Issues and Challenges’, which was released by principal Sanjay Goyal on Sunday. The book is divided into two sections, with the first section highlighting the various economic dimensions of women empowerment in India and the second section shedding light on the literacy aspects of women empowerment. It consists of 35 research papers from various scholars all over the country that includes the scholars from Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Assam, Gujrat, Telangana, etc. The principal, while extending congratulations to the editors, appreciated the collaborated efforts of the faculty members and motivated them to pursue more such collaborations in future.

Vivekananda Jayanti celebrated

Yamunanagar: Maharaja Agrasen College celebrated Swami Vivekananda Jayanti in the college. The event was inaugurated by college principal Karuna. In her address, she emphasised the inspirational impact of Swami Vivekananda’s life and teachings, highlighting the Vedantic philosophy and meaning of freedom as discussed in his recently published book, ‘Vedanta and Voice of Freedom’. She urged students to draw strength from Vivekananda's teachings, particularly his famous call to “Arise, awake and stop not till you achieve your goal”. The guest speaker, Seema Gupta, further elaborated on the profound influence of Swami Vivekananda, urging the students to focus on their life goals and persistently strive for them, drawing inspiration from his iconic speech at the 1893 World Parliament of Religions in Chicago. Programme coordinator Virender Singh Dhillon also contributed to the event by sharing insights into Vivekananda's life, his contributions and the history of Belur Math and the Ramakrishna Mission. The event was attended by faculty members, including Rahul, Sapna, Amrit Kaur and Guneet, along with hundreds of students. The programme honoured the legacy of Vivekananda, emphasising his timeless message of self-reliance, dedication and the pursuit of one’s ideals.

Victory in athletics championship

Bhiwani: Students of Adarsh Mahila Mahavidyalaya — Munesh and Sonika — have excelled in Haryana State Senior Athletics Championship. Kumari Munesh won the gold medals in shot put throw and discus throw while Kumari Sonika secured the second position in 100-m hurdle race, third in 100-m race, second in 400-m relay race and second in heptathlon. More than 2,000 players participated in the championship, which was organised at Karnal Stadium from January 7 to 9. The college principal, Alka Mittal, congratulated the students and said the students had been emerging victorious in such competitions earlier as well. The coordinator of the department of physical education and sports, Renu; head of the department, Neha; Monica Saini and the coach were also congratulated on the occasion.
