The birth anniversary of Seth Kirori Mal Lohariwala was celebrated with enthusiasm at Kirori Mal College, managed by the Seth Kirori Mal Charity Trust. An inter-college competition was organised on this occasion. The event was inaugurated by Mayank Moda who is the vice-president of the Trust. In his address, Chief Guest Mayank Moda praised Seth Kirori Mal’s exceptional contributions to education and social welfare in Bhiwani. He highlighted Kirori Mal’s visionary impact on the district’s educational and medical development, describing him as a great philanthropist. The inter-college competitions included events such as mehndi, rangoli, poetry recitation in multiple languages, collage-making and poster-making. Students from top colleges participated enthusiastically.
Admissions start at Hisar varsity
Hisar: Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUST), Hisar, has started the process of admissions to short-term certificate courses in French and German languages. The last date to apply is January 22. A university spokesperson informed that the counseling and document verification would take place on the same day in the Department of English and Foreign Languages. Vice-Chancellor Narsiram Bishnoi informed that there was a huge scope of foreign language courses for opportunities at the global level. The courses, lasting three months (90 hours), have 60 seats each and will be held in the evening and on weekends. Classes begin on January 24. Army Day celebrated at military STN
Hisar: On the occasion of Army Day, NCC cadets from the Third Haryana Battalion, under the leadership of Colonel Sunil Kataria, participated in a weapons and tank exhibition at the Hisar Military Station. The event showcased various military equipment used by the Army, including light machine guns, bridge-laying tanks, and surveillance cameras. A total of 262 cadets, three NCC officers, and staff from different schools and colleges attended the exhibition. Colonel Kataria highlighted the historical significance of the Army Day, marking the appointment of Field Marshal KM Cariappa as India’s first Army chief on January 15, 1949, symbolising indigenous leadership in the Indian Army.
State-level NSS camp in Bhiwani
Bhiwani: A seven-day state-level National Service Scheme (NSS) camp was inaugurated at Government Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary School, Lohar. The camp was attended by around 200 volunteers from 10 districts. Bhiwani’s Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Harshit Kumar, the chief guest, emphasised the importance of discipline for student success, urging volunteers to follow road safety rules and stay away from drugs. He stressed that students’ collective efforts are key to eradicating drug addiction, a social evil. District Education Officer Santosh Nagar highlighted that youth power could bring societal change and encouraged students to engage in social welfare through the NSS. Programme Officer Ramdhan Shastri and others also attended the event, urging students to maintain discipline in their lives, set clear goals and work hard to achieve them. The first day of the camp focused on road safety and de-addiction awareness.
