Central University of Haryana (CUH) organised an alumni meet during which participants took a pledge to use water judiciously and promote water conservation. Vice-Chancellor Tankeshwar Kumar was the chief guest on the occasion. He emphasised the critical role of alumni in the growth and development of any institution. He highlighted that alumni were the true ambassadors of the university, and their contributions significantly impacted its progress. Prof Suneel Kumar, registrar, CUH, also expressed hope that the alumni meet would lead to positive results and further strengthen the bonds between the alumni and the university. Prof Harish Kumar, dean of the Alumni Association, informed the participants about the activities of the association and the institution. He said this platform would undoubtedly provide an opportunity for students to connect with each other, engage in dialogue, and build stronger bonds. The event featured cultural programmes and included insightful discussions from alumni, such as Dr Oval Yadav, Shreya, Nagmani, Abhishek, Sandeep, and Aziz, who shared their experiences and pledged their continued support for the university’s progress. The event was conducted by Dr Sudeep and Dr Neeraj K Singh. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Suman.

Annual fest ‘Srijan’ held

Karnal: The Commerce Association of Dyal Singh College, Karnal, celebrated its annual fest ‘Srijan’ by organising three state-level competitions on the campus recently. All the competitions were centred on thought-provoking themes, including corporate responsibility, women entrepreneurship, online marketing, cryptocurrency, and logistics. The first competition was a declamation event in which 13 students from different colleges participated. Alisha from the host college won the first prize, Asmi Malhotra from Geeta Institute of Law stood second and Bhavika from the host college secured the third position. The second competition, creative collage, was won by Jatin from Dyal Singh College, while Muskan from Ch Ishwar Singh Kanya Mahavidyalaya stood second and Tanisha from KVA DAV College for Women, Karnal, bagged the third spot. The third competition was rangoli raaga, in which Tanisha and Kiran Rani from Dyal Singh College, Karnal, jointly won the first position, followed by Diksha and Ashu Rani from Guru Nanak Khalsa College and Vandana and Tanshiqua from Dyal Singh College, Karnal, bagging the second and third positions, respectively.

Tree plantation drive

Rewari: A tree plantation and environmental awareness programme was organised at the Bawal agriculture college of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar. Seventy students participated in the event that was inaugurated by Principal Naresh Kaushik, who highlighted the role of forests in the conservation of the environment. He said forests not only provided oxygen which was necessary for survival, but also played an important role in maintaining biodiversity. He highlighted the damage caused by global warming and the role of trees in countering its effects. The principal also gave information about the benefits of carbon credits and carbon sequestration. About 70 students participated in the programme.

students shine at athletics meet

Yamunanagar: The students of Seth Jai Parkash Polytechnic, Damla, showcased an outstanding performance at the Inter-Polytechnic Athletics Meet held at Government Polytechnic, Jhajjar, securing multiple medals and accolades. In the event, two gold medals were won by Mehak in the 200-m and 100-m races, while three silver medals were bagged by Pooja and Shivani and the girls’ relay team in the 800-m, 1500-m, and 4×100-m relay races, respectively. The boys’ team also won a silver medal in the 1,100-m hurdles event. Two bronze medals were won by the girls’ team in the 4×200-m relay and by Kushal in the 100-m race. A major highlight of the event was the girls’ team being crowned the second-best girls’ athletics team in the competition.

Girl student gets scholarship

Kaithal: Anjana Darshan Saini, a BSc life sciences (second year) student at RKSD College, Kaithal, has been awarded the prestigious INSPIRE Scholarship for her outstanding academic performance. Principal Satyabir said Anjana secured 94.4 per cent in the Class XII board exams (medical stream) and, under the guidance of Prof Gagan Mittal, applied for the scholarship through the college’s scholarship department. Excelling in her first year with a CGPA of 8.58, she met the merit-based criteria and received Rs 1,20,000 as scholarship funds.
