Campus notes: College ALUMNUS, student feted

Guru Nanak Khalsa College’s alumnus Pankaj Chugh, Senior Section Engineer, Northern Railway, and student Nikita of BSc Sports-III were honoured by the district administration on Republic Day for their outstanding contributions. Chugh was recognised for his contribution to football while Nikita received accolades for winning a shooting competition under the NCC. Officiating Principal Pratima Sharma expressed her pride over the achievements of Pankaj and Nikita. She said the dedication and excellence demonstrated by the college students and alumni continued to bring laurels to their institution. Their recognition at the district level was a testament to the holistic education and training provided by Guru Nanak Khalsa College, she said.

Brochure for conference unveiled

Hisar: Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUST), Hisar, launched the brochure for its first international conference ‘STAGE-2025’ on January 29. The conference, scheduled for March 20-21, will focus on sustainability, technology and innovation, AI and analytics, green practices and entrepreneurship and management. It is being organised in collaboration with the Indo Gulf Management Association (Dubai) and the Research Culture Society (USA and India). The event aims at providing a platform for researchers to present their ideas on global challenges like sustainable development and technological innovations.

Mishra is law varsity registrar

Chandigarh: Prof Ashutosh Mishra has been appointed the Registrar of Dr BR Ambedkar National Law University, Sonepat. The appointment has been made by Haryana Governor and university Chancellor Bandaru Dattatreya, on the recommendation of the Haryana Government. Professor Mishra was earlier Dean, Academic Affairs, of the university. He is also Member, General Council of Rajiv Gandhi, National Law University, Patiala.

Lala Lajpat Rai remembered

Sonepat: Tributes were paid to freedom fighterLala Lajpat Rai and the first Indian Commander-in-Chief, Field Marshal KM Cariappa, on their birth anniversary at Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Khanpur Kalan, on Wednesday. At a programme organised in the conference room of the Vice-Chancellor’s office, Prof Sudesh paid floral tributes to the portraits of these two great personalities and saluted them. The Vice-Chancellor said that Rai’s contribution to the country’s independence movement was unique and he gave new energy to the national movements. The nation will always be grateful to him. Lalaji also made Arya Samaj popular in Punjab, he said.
