Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Yamunanagar, celebrated Guru Ravidas Jayanti with great enthusiasm. The event was marked by a gathering of teaching, non-teaching staff and students, who came together to pay homage to the revered saint and philosopher, Guru Ravidas. Officiating Principal Dr Pratima Sharma said the Guru’s teachings of equality, humility and universal brotherhood continued to guide everyone towards a more just and compassionate society. His timeless wisdom inspired all to rise above differences and work towards collective progress.During the event, Dr Tilak Raj, associate professor of Punjabi and Dr Jagat Singh from Department of Education shared insights into the life and philosophy of Guru Ravidas. They emphasised on his message of social harmony, righteousness and devotion to God. They highlighted how his teachings remained relevant in today’s world, urging everyone to imbibe his values of selfless service and truthfulness.
International conference at CUH
Mahendragarh: The department of physics and astrophysics of the Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendragarh, will organise an international conference on Advancements in material science for sustainable development (AIMS-2025). The two-day conference will begin on February 13 and more than 200 national and international delegates will participate in the conference being organised in collaboration with the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) and Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences (BRNS). The conference will provide a platform to researchers for discussing new research, challenges and opportunities for collaboration. The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof Tankeshwar Kumar, said with an emphasis on scientific collaboration and sustainable technological advancements, AIMS-2025 promised to be a landmark event in the academic and research community.
Training programme concludes
Hisar: The 37th ICAR Centre for Advanced Faculty Training (CAFT) Programme, which commenced on January 22 at the department of veterinary microbiology, Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (LUVAS), has concluded. During the 21-day course, 25 scientists from eight states were trained on the topic of “Advanced serological, molecular, and cell-based diagnostics in veterinary science.” Dr Seema Jaggi, Assistant Director-General (HRD), ICAR, narrated schemes of the ICAR for capacity building of students and scientists. She emphasised ICAR’s commitment for capacity building among young researchers and scientists of the state agricultural universities through various training initiatives. She also encouraged the participants to develop collaborative research project proposals utilising the knowledge gained during the training. A key highlight of the event was the release of a digital compendium containing e-lectures and supplementary course materials compiled by the organisers. Dr Rajesh Chhabra, head of the department and director of the course, stated that in addition to hands-on practical training, the participants attended expert lectures on various subjects.
Awareness EVENT on girls’ safety
Yamunanagar: Seth Jai Parkash Polytechnic, Damla, in collaboration with its women cell, successfully organised an awareness programme on girls’ safety. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Neelam addressed crucial issues related to safety, digital security, and social awareness. The programme aimed at educating and empower young girls about personal safety, online threats and the importance of making informed decisions in social interactions. During the session, Neelam emphasised the significance of recognising good touch and bad touch, helping students understand how to identify and respond to inappropriate behaviour. She also highlighted the dangers of digital arrest and how careless actions on social media could lead to serious consequences. The students were made aware of online threats, blackmailing and the risks of bad friendships, particularly those that could result in emotional or mental distress at a later stage.
