Yamunanagar: Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Yamunanagar, organised a training session on cyber-security in collaboration with Webcom and supported by the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). During the event, Dr Catherine Masih, IQAC Coordinator, emphasised the increasing role of technology in our lives and highlighted the crucial need for cybersecurity awareness. Cyber-security expert Vipin Arya discussed the basics of cyber-security, delving into various cyber threats, preventive measures, and the importance of ethical hacking in today’s digital era. About 250 students and several senior faculty members attended the training programme.
Investor edu & skill development event
Kaithal: The Career and Guidance Cell and Commerce Department of RKSD College, Kaithal, recently organised an Investor Education and Skill Development Programme in collaboration with BSE Limited. The event aimed to promote financial literacy, skill development and employability among students. BSE Trainer Dr Priya Jindal conducted the programme, which included a Level 1 examination in association with NISM. Forty-five out of 60 participating students passed the examination, qualifying for the next level of certification. Principal Sanjay Goyal encouraged students to acquire such skills.
Lecture on legal services
Kurukshetra: An extension lecture on “Legal Services to Persons with Mental Illness with Intellectual Disabilities” was recently organised by the Psychology Society and the Legal Literacy Cell of Dayanand Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Kurukshetra. The session aimed to raise awareness about the legal rights of individuals with mental illnesses and intellectual disabilities, emphasising the importance of ensuring access to appropriate, accessible legal aid. Karan Singh, a counsellor in LNJP Hospital, Kurukshetra, said one should have proper knowledge of all the symptoms of the diseases like OCD, depression and epilepsy. Principal Dr Upasana Ahuja said the government was trying to the show right path to “purposeless youngsters”. It was very easy to quit, but the one who faced challenges was the real hero in life, she added. She said our minds were like gardens and we needed to take care of it like a gardener, by focusing only on the positive thoughts. We should know our purpose in life, and must do hard work to avoid negative thoughts, she added. She advocated for social justice for marginalised communities. As many as 92 students participated in the event.
Start-up success colloquium
Kurukshetra: A two-day start-up success colloquium recently began at Kurukshetra University’s University School of Management. The event was attended by entrepreneurs, industry leaders and academic experts. Dean (Faculty of Commerce and Management) Neelam Dhanda emphasised the importance of entrepreneurship. Hirdesh Madan, as the chief guest at the event, shared his views on the challenges of entrepreneurship and advised the students to “never underestimate yourself”. Madan highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence (AI) in today’s businesses landscape. Awards and certificates were presented to the winners of the Ideation-2025, a start-up idea pitching competition held on February 13. The first prize was awarded to Garima Turan, Aastha, and Divya Deswal of the Department of Biochemistry for their start-up idea.
