An environmental training camp was organised at Government Post Graduate Nehru College, Jhajjar, in collaboration with the Forest Department, Eco Club, EVS Club, Go Green Club and Nature Interpretation Club. The camp was attended by Deputy Conservator of Forests, Jhalkar Singh, as the chief guest, along with Forest Range Officer Hitesh Dagar as the special guest. The event was organised by Prof Arvind Kumar and managed by Prof Pusphendra Kadyan. While Principal Dalbir Singh encouraged the students to develop love for nature, chief guest Jhalkar Singh highlighted that Haryana's forest cover is only four per cent, with a target to increase it to 20 per cent. He urged students to actively contribute to increasing the forest area of Jhajjar district by at least 10 per cent in the next ten years, in collaboration with the Forest Department. Students participated enthusiastically, expressing their environmental responsibility through posters, slogans, poetry, songs, speeches and rangoli. The event concluded with the distribution of certificates and awards to the participants.

Lecture on benefits of millets

Mahendragarh: The Department of Nutrition Biology at the Central University of Haryana (CUH) organised an expert talktitled "Millets: Nutritional Benefits, Processing and Health Implications" under the SHRI-DST funded project. Expert speaker Prof Beenu Tanwar from Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Khanpur, presented research on the theme of the lecture. She discussed the nutritional and therapeutic properties of various millets. The talk also covered possible health implications associated with millet consumption. A large number of students and faculty attended the lecture, engaging in discussions with the expert. The invited speaker also responded to the queries from faculty members and students. Dean of the School of Interdisciplinary and Applied Sciences and Prof Dinesh Kumar Gupta, Head of the Department of Nutrition Biology, appreciated the efforts of Dr Anita Kumari, convenor, and Dr Ashwani Kumar, organising secretary, for successfully conducting the event.

Session on Yoga for wellness

Rewari: A special session on 'Yoga for Health and Wellness' was organised by the Yoga Department at Indira Gandhi University. Dr Indu Sharma, Assistant Professor at Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, was the keynote speaker. Dr Sharma provided detailed insights into the physical, mental and spiritual benefits of yoga, emphasising that regular practice enhances body's flexibility, mental peace and overall quality of life. She also highlighted the importance of meditation and pranayama in reducing stress. She also demonstrated various yoga practices, focusing on physical health, mental wellbeing and emotional balance. Professor NP Giri welcomed the keynote speaker, while Dr Jaypal Singh Rajput, the workshop coordinator, honoured her with a memento.

Workshop on Patent filing

Yamunanagar: The IQAC and P.G. Departments of the MLN College organised a one-day workshop in collaboration with Patent Information Centre, Panchkula, and the Intellectual Property Office, New Delhi. Dr Anil Dhawan, Principal, addressed the participants on the significance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in India and the role of scientist in ensuring quality publication and patent filing. Dr Rahul Taneja, the resource person and a distinguished scientist at the Department of Science & Technology, Government Office Haryana, delivered an interactive lecture on patents, trademarks, designs and copyrights. He explained their filing process, legal aspects and the consultancy opportunities in the field. The workshop broadened students' understanding of IPR and its relevance.
