Yamunanagar: The Department of Physics and the Career Counselling and Placement Cell of Mukand Lal National College organised an extension lecture on geophysics, designed to offer students an in-depth understanding of the field. The lecture was delivered by Dr BS Chaudhary, Chairman, Department of Geophysics, Kurukshetra University. Principal Dr Anil Dhawan said the interactive session provided a valuable platform for undergraduate students to explore various geophysical methods used in natural resource exploration, and sparked interest in pursuing geophysics as a career path and as an area of study. Several faculty members were among the attendees of the event.
Students placed in Infosys
Sonepat: Two students of the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, Bhagat Phool Singh Women’s University, Khanpur Kalan, have secured jobs while in their final semester. Vice-Chancellor Sudesh honoured the selected students. She said talented students acted as guides for others, and were the ‘brand ambassadors’ of the university. Dr Vinod Saroha, Training and Placement Officer, Computer Science and Technology, said 29 final year students of the department participated in the placement drive at Guru Jambheshwar University, Hisar. After passing the written examination and interview, students Medha Chaudhary and Akansha Sinha had been offered the post of system engineer in Infosys.
Basics of GST lecture
Yamunanagar: A guest lecture was organised at Tilak Raj Chadha Institute of Management and Technology (TIMT), Yamunanagar, for students of the first and final year of the MBA programme, and the second year of the BBA programme. The lecture was titled “Basics of GST and GST Registration Process”, and was delivered by Mrinal, a Chartered Accountant. The concept of GST, its need, tax structure, rates, input tax credit, composition scheme and return filing process were discussed in detail. He said the implementation of GST had brought transparency in the tax system, and was proving beneficial for traders. Students asked the CA questions at the end of the event.
Blood donation camp
Kurukshetra: Markanda National College, Shahabad, organised a blood donation camp in the memory of the former President of its Managing Committee, social worker Ram Labhaya Guliani. The camp was managed by the the college’s NSS unit, NCC unit, Red Ribbon Club and Rotary Club, Shahabad. Kailash Saini, as the chief guest at the event, encouraged the participants to donate blood regularly as it could save somebody’s life. It was one of the noblest donations, he said. Principal Dr Ashok Kumar said 39 units of blood were donated by the participants, collected and preserved by a team of doctors from Lok Nayak Jai Parkash Hospital, Kurukshetra.
BEL mega placement drive
Kurukshetra: Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Defence, conducted a campus placement drive at UIET, Kurukshetra University, for final-year electronics and communication engineering (ECE) and mechanical engineering (ME) students. Vice-Chancellor Som Nath Sachdeva said the visit by officials of BEL to UIET highlighted the university’s growing reputation as a premier institute fostering industry-academia collaborations. UIET Director Sunil Dhingra said, with such placements, UIET continued to shape the future of young engineers, providing them with career opportunities in leading public sector organisations. Following a rigorous selection process, Aniket Bayana (ECE), Varun Ahuja (ECE), Dhruv Sahu (ME) and Manuj (ME) secured placements at BEL.
