Jind:The poster for the Haryana Film Festival 2025 was unveiled at Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University (CRSU) by Registrar Prof Loveleen Mohan. Mohan emphasised cinema's impact on societal change and encouraged students to create documentaries on welfare schemes. The festival features professional and non-professional categories, with themes like Haryanvi culture and women empowerment. Submissions close on March 8, 2025. Prize amounts are Rs 31,000, Rs 21,000, and Rs 11,000 for winners in the professional category..

National Girl Child Day celebrated

Kurukshetra: Dayanand Mahila Mahavidyalaya celebrated National Girl Child Day with a poetry writing competition and an awareness rally. Organised by the women cell, NSS, Youth Red Cross, NCC, and legal literacy cell, the rally was flagged off by Principal Dr Upasana Ahuja, who emphasised empowering girls by ensuring their education, safety and rights. The poetry competition featured themes like girl child empowerment and education, with 31 participants. Winners included Kumari Divya (first), Kumari Khushbu (second), and Kumari Pooja and Neha (third). Consolation prizes were awarded to Kumari Sushma and Payal. Activity coordinators and 54 rally participants contributed to spreading awareness about eliminating discrimination and promoting equality.

National Voter's Day celebrated

Bhiwani: Vaish College, Bhiwani, organised poetry recitation, slogan writing and speech competitions under the guidance of Principal Dr Sanjay Goyal on the theme of "Nothing is like vote, we will definitely vote." Dhruv won the poetry recitation competition, Bosco topped slogan writing, and Sabuj excelled in the speech contest. The competitions aimed at raising awareness about National Voter's Day, celebrated annually on January 25. The winners were awarded medals and cash prizes by faculty members. The principal emphasised the importance of voting in strengthening democracy, urging the students to vote responsibly. The faculty members, including Dr Asha Rani and Pawan Kumar also attended the event.

Bakery workshop at Hisar govt college

Hisari: A four-day workshop on "bakery and preservation" was held at Government College for Women, Hisar, from January 22 to 25, under the aegis of the women's cell and the home science department. Led by Dr Rajni Goyal, assistant professor at Kurukshetra University, the workshop provided practical training in baking and food preservation. Participants learned to bake carrot cake, brownies, muffins, and traditional nankhatai, emphasising ingredient combination and baking techniques. The preservation segment included making mixed fruit jam, orange squash, pickles and chutneys. Women's cell convener Shaina highlighted its potential for self-reliance and entrepreneurship. Principal Shashi Yadav and faculty appreciated the students' efforts and praised the quality of the products prepared during the workshop.

Voters take oath at Fatehabad college

Fatehabad: A special programme was organised on Saturday at MM College to celebrate National Voters' Day. Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Mandeep Kaur administered the voter's oath to gathering and encouraged them to exercise their rights to vote. Rajya Sabha MP Subhash Barala emphasised youth participation in democratic processes, urging active contributions for a strong democracy. The DC highlighted the district's voter turnout of 70.06 per cent in the Lok Sabha and 75 per cent in the Assembly elections, urging people to increase participation.

Mushroom growing workshop at HAU

Hisar: A training workshop on mushroom production technology concluded at the Saina Nehwal Agricultural Technology, Training, and Education Institute of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU). A total of 50 trainees participated in the workshop. Co-director Dr Ashok Kumar Godara said mushroom farming was a low-cost business suitable for both educated and uneducated individuals, including the landless. Various mushroom species like white button, oyster, milky and paddy straw could be grown throughout the year, ensuring self-reliance and reducing air pollution through agricultural residue utilisation.

Awareness event at Bhiwani college

Bhiwani: To mark the 15th National Voters' Day, an awareness programme was held at Adarsh College for Women, Bhiwani. Deputy Commissioner Mahabir Kaushik administered the voter's oath to the gathering and stressed on the significance of each vote in strengthening democracy. Students and officials were honoured for their contribution to voting awareness and the election process.
