Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Central Library at Central University of Haryana (CUH) organised a workshop on 'Patent Drafting and Filing' for faculty members and research scholars on the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day. More than 70 participants attended the session. Vice-Chancellor Prof Tankeshwar Kumar highlighted that securing patents for innovative ideas and designs benefits not only the university but also the society, economy and the nation. He emphasised that patent drafting is a crucial process and requires proper training to meet the formal requirements of patent authorities. University librarian Dr Santosh C H, in his introductory remarks, underscored the importance of drafting in transforming ideas into protected intellectual assets. Prof Harish Kumar, head of Chemistry Department, and Dr Amit Kumar, assistant professor, School of Engineering and Technology, served as the workshop's experts. They shared real-world cases, drafting formats and strategies for filing both Indian and international patents. Assistant librarian Naresh Kumar demonstrated the functioning of the university's e-Library application. The session was anchored by Dr Vinita Malik, Information Scientist, who also delivered the vote of thanks.

Course on International Migration

Mahendragarh: The Department of Sociology at Central University of Haryana (CUH) conducted a five-day GIAN (Global Initiative of Academic Networks) course on "International Migration from South Asia: Context and Policies." Marking a significant academic milestone, this was the first-ever GIAN course hosted under the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Prof Sunita Srivastava, Head of the Department of Physics and Astrophysics, was the chief guest at the valedictory session. In her address, she stressed the importance of interdisciplinary discussions on migration and lauded the department's efforts to foster global academic collaboration. Prof Gunjan Goel, the local GIAN coordinator, also spoke and praised the efforts of the organising team. Dr Reema Gill, course coordinator and Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology, delivered the vote of thanks. Dr Radha Adhikari, the international faculty member from the University of the West of Scotland, shared her experience of the five-day academic engagement. The course covered a wide range of themes including historical migration, gendered dimensions, policy frameworks, informal labour and emerging research areas in migration studies.

Legal Literacy Camp Organised

Mahendragarh: The Legal Literacy Society of the Department of Law at Central University of Haryana (CUH) conducted a Legal Literacy Camp at Sisoth village in Mahendragarh district. The initiative aimed to educate school children and elderly villagers about cybercrimes and preventive strategies. Law students presented a powerful street play on cyber fraud, depicting how vulnerable individuals, especially children and seniors, are often duped by online scams. Dr Pardeep Singh, Head and Dean, School of Law, reaffirmed the department's dedication to social outreach and raised concern over increasing cybercrime incidents in the digital era. He highlighted that such crimes often target unsuspecting individuals through deceptive means. Stressing the need for legal awareness, he stated that more literacy camps are being planned to engage nearby communities. Law students also distributed stationery and informative pamphlets specially prepared for the campaign and provided basic career counselling to school students.

drive on indigenous drinks

Mahendragarh: Central University of Haryana (CUH) launched a national-level campaign titled 'Peya Parv' to highlight the link between health and heritage through traditional Indian beverages. The event was inaugurated in the presence of Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Pawan Kumar Sharma and Registrar Prof Suneel Kumar. The initiative aims to promote awareness of traditional Indian drinks and their potential as entrepreneurial ventures. Vice-Chancellor Prof Tankeshwar Kumar underscored the importance of reviving indigenous drinks and encouraging youth to explore them as career opportunities. "Our goal is to raise awareness about indigenous beverages and inspire youth to consider them as avenues for entrepreneurship and employment," he said.
