Campus Notes: MoU to promote entrepreneurship

Hisar: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar (GJUST), and Bag Ventures LLP, Hisar, to collaboratively facilitate the entrepreneurial journey of incubates of Pandit Deendyal Upadhyaya Innovation and Incubation Centre (PDUIIC) in the university. Vice-Chancellor Narsi Ram Bishnoi signed the MoU on behalf of GJUST with Nitin Garg, founder, Bag Ventures LLP, Hisar. Vinod Chhokar, Registrar, and Namita Singh, Dean, International Affairs, signed as witnesses on behalf of GJUST while Manubhav Batra and Kumkum Saharan signed as witnesses on behalf of Bag Ventures LLP, Hisar. VC Bishnoi said that GJUST had prepared a special scheme to promote skills related to innovation, incubation and entrepreneurship among its students. Under this scheme, the university had entered into an MoU with Bag Venrures LLP, Hisar. He said that the MoU would prove to be a milestone in establishing skills of the students. Bag Ventures LLP will organise events, competitions, expert sessions, hackathons, idea exhibitions, workshops and industry personnel seminars to engage and educate students about entrepreneurship and innovation.

LUVAS launches new app

Hisar: LUVAS Vice-Chancellor Raja Sekhar Vundru launched the "LUVAS FMD e-Loss Calculator© App", now available on Google Play Store. This app helps calculate economic losses from foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in animals, offering valuable insights for dairy farmers, policymakers and stakeholders. Dr Vundru praised LUVAS scientists for their contributions, enabling Haryana to implement the first combined FMD+HS vaccination programme in India. Naresh Jindal highlighted the app's development under Dr NK Kakker, focusing on economic loss quantification. The app allows users to give input on animal data, calculate losses from reduced milk production, mortality and treatment costs, and supports effective FMD management. Dr Gulshan Narang emphasised the app’s role in enhancing livestock resilience and empowering stakeholders. Dr NK Kakker, former Professor and Head of Department of Veterinary Microbiology, expressed optimism about the transformative potential of the “LUVAS FMD e-Loss Calculator©”, and explained that this tool would allow users to put data of affected animals i.e. cattle, buffalo, sheep, goat and pig as per their age group and gender, enabling the calculation of economic losses across key parameters such as reduction in milk production, mortality rates, treatment costs and diminished draft capability caused by one of the dreaded viral diseases of animals i.e. FMD”.

NSS camp in Bhiwani school

Bhiwani: An NSS camp has been organised at Government Senior Secondary School, Sanga, in Bhiwani district. Principal Ashok Kumar Pahal emphasised the importance of a drug-free and Digital India. Addressing volunteers, he said that these initiatives could create a strong, healthy and advanced nation. He said that drug addiction harmed physical and mental health, urging youth to avoid drugs for a brighter future. He said that Digital India was aimed at promoting startups and employment opportunities.

4 Kaithal pupils excel in slogan-writing

Kaithal: Four students of Indira Gandhi (PG) Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Kaithal, achieved success in the online state-level slogan writing and chart making competitions organised on the National Constitution Day by Dayal Singh College, Karnal. Under the Political Science Association and Legal Literacy Cell, Seema won the first prize, Gita secured second and Shivani third in the slogan writing competition. Raveena won the third place in the chart-making competition. College Principal Dr Aarti Garg praised their achievements and governing body president Shri Ram Bahadur Khurania applauded their talents. All winners received prizes with additional cash rewards announced for the top performers, celebrating their accomplishments.
