Campus notes: NSS camp ends at Panipat college

A seven-day special NSS camp organised at SD PG College, Panipat, concluded on Monday. College Principal Dr Anupam Arora, Programme Officer Dr Rakesh Garg and Dr Santosh Kumari distributed certificates and prizes to the participating volunteers at the closing ceremony. During the camp, volunteers turned slums and public places into their workspaces, working for social and community welfare. The youngsters worked enthusiastically on issues such as cleanliness, awareness about malnutrition, cashless economy, women’s education and safety, prevention of children’s diseases, digital India, Make-in-India, prevention of female foeticide and protection from domestic violence. Dr Arora said NSS volunteers should become a source of help for others in the difficult challenges of life such as poverty, discrimination, addiction, physical illness, unemployment, disability and mental illness.

Shivani shines at poetry contest

Kaithal: Six NSS volunteers from Indira Gandhi (PG) Mahila Mahavidyalya, Kaithal, participated in a seven-day university-level camp, organised recently by Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, at Dayanand Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Kurukshetra. The camp featured various academic and cultural activities, in which students participated enthusiastically. In poetry recitation competition, Shivani, a BA final-year student, secured the second position and was awarded with a certificate for her performance. College Principal Dr Aarti Garg expressed her happiness over the achievement, and encouraged students to participate in such events in future. Governing Body President Ram Bahadur Khurania honoured Shivani with an award to motivate her, and other students. Evening Session Principal In-Charge Shweta Tanwar, NSS in-charge Dr Deepa, Prof Renu Bala and Prof Anu were among those present at the event.

Students stage street plays

Kaithal: A seven-day camp, organised by the NSS Unit of RKSD College, Kaithal, recently concluded at Government Senior Secondary School, Khurana. The camp was themed “Sashakt Bharat: Empowering Youth Empowering India”. Volunteers organised rallies, street plays and various cultural programmes on the theme. Programme Officers Sanjay Garg and Rajesh Deswal emphasised the importance of discipline and social service. Principal Satybir Mehla honoured the volunteers for their dedication and hard work.
