Kurukshetra: Kurukshetra University Registrar Dr Virender Pal has said organic farming is a boon for environmental balance. Organic farming is an ancient agricultural method of crop production that helps farmers maintain soil fertility and environmental balance. The Registrar was interacting with students of the Institute of Integrated and Honours Studies (IIHS) of the university while inspecting their organic farming projects. He said organic farming was not only an agricultural method, but also an ideology that taught us to maintain balance with nature. It was not only beneficial to our health, but also played an important role in maintaining soil fertility and biodiversity, he added. He said it was an effective measure to prevent damage to soil quality and water resources due to excessive use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides. IIHS Principal Rita said the organic farming campaign was not only bringing greenery to the university campus, but was also spreading awareness about organic farming in society. By joining the initiative, every student could feel the foundation of a big change being laid, even with a small effort, she added.
