Campus Notes: Pledge administered to voters

ROHTAK: Casting vote is an essential duty of every citizen. Each vote matters in a democracy. So, all registered voters must go out and cast their votes in the forthcoming elections to the Haryana Vidhan Sabha scheduled to be held on October 5. The Director, Public Relations, of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), and Nodal Officer, SVEEP (Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation), Sunit Mukherjee, administered a pledge to vote to eligible students, faculty members and officials of the Centre for Disability Studies (CDS) of the university. Speech and hearing impaired students took the pledge in Indian Sign Language (ISL). Mukherjee explained the importance of voting in strengthening the democracy. CDS Director Pratima Devi and other staff members were present on the occasion.

Motivational lecture for girls

Yamunanagar: The Women Cell of Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Yamunanagar, organised a motivational lecture for girl students on sexual harassment, women safety and empowerment. The event aimed at creating awareness and fostering a sense of confidence and self-reliance among young women. The speakers included ASI Neelam, ASI Rinki and Neha, the district president of Sarva Jagruk Sangathan. Pratima Sharma, the coordinator of the Women Cell, said it was essential that the young women understood their rights and were equipped with the knowledge to protect themselves. ASI Neelam focused on the issue of sexual harassment and explained the legal remedies and the importance of reporting such incidents. She emphasised the role of simplicity and self-confidence.
