Campus notes: ‘Rang Sur’ musical event
The audience grooved to the tunes of the saxophone last evening at the 'Rang Sur' musical event, held at the Tagore Auditorium of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU). Young saxophonist Aaliyah Gupta impressed the gathering with her renditions of popular Hindi film songs on the saxophone. She was accompanied by Varun Sharma on the dholak, Narender Kumar on the keyboard, Ajit Singh Rathor on the Octapad and Stanlay on the guitar. The event was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Rajbir Singh, while the music show was managed by Vipul Gupta. Earlier, the students of the Music Department showcased a Bollywood mashup medley under the guidance of Dr Saurabh Verma. Dean (Students' Welfare) Randeep Rana delivered the welcome address.
Scholarship function organised
Karnal: The scholarship committee of Dyal Singh College, Karnal, recently organised a scholarship function. It was presided over by Vice-Admiral Satish Soni (retd), General Secretary, Dyal Singh College Trust Society. Principal Dr Ashima Gakhar said a total of 89 students were given scholarships. Vice-Admiral Soni said the scholarships represented much more than just financial assistance as these were an investment in students' potential. He congratulated and encouraged all scholarship recipients to embrace every challenge, continue to seek knowledge and be inspired to achieve greatness. Kritika of the BCom course conducted the stage. Dr Mukta Jain, convener, scholarship committee, delivered the vote of thanks. Dr Santosh Yadav, Dr Ritu Sharma, Dr Vandana Sabharwal and Dr Rubi were among those present at the event.
World TB Day
Sonepat: BPS Government Medical College for Women, Khanpur Kalan, in Sonepat recently marked World TB Day by organising a poster and wall magazine competition for under-graduate medical students of all batches. A patient-adoption programme was also conducted, and 10 TB patients were adopted by faculty members of the institute. Nutritional kits were handed over to patients at the ceremony. Sensitisation workshops for faculty were conducted under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Around 120 delegates registered for the workshops.
Condolence meet at Y'nagar
Yamunanagar:DAV Centenary Dental College (DAVCDC), Model Town (Yamunanagar), staff and students recently held a condolence meet to pay their respects to the father of Dr Inder Kumar Pandit, Director-Principal, DAVCDC. The meet was held under the chairmanship of Dr Miglani to extend condolences to the bereaved family. Two minutes of silence were observed in the memory of departed.
