Campus Notes: Student shines in State Youth Fest

Hisar: Raveena, a student of commercial art department of Indira Gandhi (PG) Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Kaithal, brought laurels to the college by securing third position in the on-the-spot painting competition in the State Youth Festival. Giving more information, college principal Dr Aarti Garg said the State Youth Festival was organised at Shri Vishwakarma University, Dudhola, Palwal, sponsored by the Department of Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship, Haryana. This festival was held from January 3 to 5, in which Raveena, a student of IG College, secured third position in the on-the-spot painting competition and won a cash prize of ?5000, a certificate and a trophy. President of the governing body Ram Bahadur Khurania said as always, Raveena had brought laurels to the college and her parents with her brilliant presentation this time too and wished her allthe best. Aruna from commercial art department and Monica Mittal from the commerce department were present on the occasion.

Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti celebrated

Sonepat: Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology (DCRUST), Murthal Vice-Chancellor Professor Shri Prakash Singh said that Guru Gobind Singh dedicated his life to the service of people, truth, justice, compassion and life values. Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti was celebrated at DCRUST, Murthal, and it was a happy occasion that today all had gathered on the birth anniversary of Guru Gogind Singh. The programme was presided over by the Vice- Chancellor and the chief speaker in the programme was Haryana's Social Harmony chief Shashi Bhushan. Singh said in his presidential address that Guru Gobind Singh sacrificed his life to prevent religious conversion. Guru Gobind Singh's life and teachings still influenced people. He said the idea was bigger than the person, the nation was bigger than the idea, this mantra of nation first was the firm resolve of Guru Gobind Singh.Bhushan said Guru Gobind Singh increased social harmony, ended the feeling of high and low. His entire life was dedicated to the society and the nation. A large number of students, teachers, officers and employees were present on the occasion.

Boxer brings laurels to college

Hisar: A student of the DN College in Hisar Mandeep got a bronze medal in the 75 kg boxing event in the All India Inter University Games held in Bathinda recently. Mandeep defeated Mohit of the LPU. The college principal Vikramjeet Singh congratulated the boxer for his achievement.
