Campus Notes: Training on girls’ safety

Yamunanagar: Under Rotaract 3080, Guru Nanak Khalsa College Yamunanagar organised ‘Defend and Empower 4.0’ project at a government school. Under this, club’s secretary Rajeshwari and her team provided training to school girls to stay safe. Rotaracters explained various ways in which they can protect themselves from being attacked by another person. Rotaract Muskan Chawla said for safety, they should always be alert and keep an eye on the activities happening around them. He said this was an annual project run by the club, under which club members were going to different areas and providing safety training to children, girls and women. Club members said children were showing interest in learning this and they also practiced it. Rotarian Sanjeev Sethi, president of Parent Rotary Club, Yamunanagar, Riviera, said a significant step was being taken by the club for the society. Randeep Singh Jauhar, chairman of College Management Committee, and officiating principal Pratima Sharma congratulated everyone.

Exhibition to remember Guru Nanak

Karnal: Navneet Kaur, a student of Guru Nanak Khalsa College, organised an exhibition dedicated to Guru Nanak Dev during the 555th Prakash Parv (birth anniversary) under divinity services. College principal Shashi Madan and Navneet Kaur, an MCom student, artistically illustrated significant aspects of Guru Nanak Dev’s life journey through beautiful paintings adorning the college walls. She also inscribed his hymns and teachings to convey profound messages. The exhibition was meticulously reviewed and appreciated by the president of the College Management Committee, Kanwarjit Singh Prince, and vice-president Sardarni Kanwarpreet Kaur Virk. Prince remarked that the college's objective was to provide education integrated with values, and such exhibitions played a vital role in enhancing students' knowledge and moral grounding.

GURU NANAK COLLEGE teams shine

Yamunanagar: Men’s weightlifting team of Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Yamunanagar, has won the champion trophy at the Inter-Collegiate Weightlifting Championship. The medallists include Prince, Swayam and Sumesh, who won the gold medals, while Harshit and Sidhant earned the silver medals. Additionally, Piyush Gupta and Server secured the bronze medals for their outstanding performances. In addition to the men’s success, the women’s weightlifting team also excelled in the Kurukshetra University Weightlifting Championship, securing the second position. The women athletes achieved remarkable feats, with Muskan, Diya, Reeta, Tamanna and Muskan Singh winning the gold medals. Ujala, Manvi and Mansi won the silver medals, further contributing to the team's overall success. Officiating principal Pratima Sharma congratulated the athletes on their extraordinary achievements. Ranjit Singh, head of the department of physical education, and Sanjay Vij, associate professor of the department, also expressed their joy over the team's success. Coaches Jogesh Sharma, Surjit Singh, and faculty members Joshpreet Singh, Amarjeet Singh, Kawalpreet Singh, Dheeraj, Shiv Kumar, Mangal Singh and Arun were present to congratulate the winning teams.

61 students selected in TCS

Sonepat: Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology (DCRUST), Murthal, has got bumper placements for BTech final year students. Sixty one students have got placements in the country's reputed company, TCS. Selected students will get an annual package of up to Rs 7 lakh. Vice-Chancellor Shri Prakash Singh said students should achieve their goals by making a great use of the resources available in the university. Apart from this, 58 students were selected for TCS's Ninja profile. The 58 students selected for the Ninja profile would get an annual package of Rs 3.36 lakh. For this, an annual incentive of up to Rs 60,000 would also be given based on the performance of the selected students. The VC said 36 students of computer science engineering had been placed in TCS, while 23 students of electronics and communication engineering and one student each of electrical and chemical engineering had been placed.
