debate on One Nation, One Election
Mahendragarh: A panel discussion on One Nation, One Election was jointly organised at the Central University of Haryana on Wednesday by the Student Welfare Dean’s Office, Law Department and the NCC and NSS units. Satish Poonia, a former Leader of Opposition at the Rajasthan Assembly, was the chief guest at the event, while MLA Kanwar Singh Yadav was the guest of honour. Poonia said, for India to become a developed nation, the implementation of One Nation, One Election was imperative. Yadav supported the concept, stating that, for the nation’s strength and optimal utilisation of resources, it was crucial to end the cycle of frequent elections. He said continuous electoral processes created administrative hurdles, affecting good governance. Vice-Chancellor Tankeshwar Kumar said the constant cycle of elections kept the nation in perpetual election mode, which hampered development.
