Campus notes: VC meets researchers
Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology (DCRUST), Murthal, is aiming to promote research work and help researchers file patents. Vice-Chancellor Prakash Singh said this at a meeting held recently with researchers of the university. He said the university would encourage researchers to publish research papers in good journals. A certificate would be given researchers for getting papers published in good journals, he added. He said researchers would no longer have to face problems in filing patents, as the university administration would provide all possible help to them. Singh said if researchers of the university wanted to conduct research at night, the university would keep laboratories open at night as well. Any work related to research would be done according to the ordinance of the university, he added.
NSS volunteers clean temple
Yamunanagar: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Seth Jai Parkash Polytechnic, Damla, successfully organised a one-day special camp under the leadership of NSS Officer Richa Kharbanda. The camp commenced with an address by Principal Anil Kumar, who exhorted volunteers to engage in social service, uphold ethical values and contribute to the objectives of NSS. The event included two activities — a cleanliness drive and a visit to a Krishi Vigyan Kendra (agricultural science centre). At the centre, agricultural experts Dr Ashma Khan, Dr Goel, Dr Vishal, Dr Karan Saini and Dr Kawinder provided insights on natural farming techniques, tortoise compost, organic fertilisers, crop production methods, soil quality testing techniques, stubble management machinery (including happy seeder), and balanced and nutritious diets for health and wellbeing. Following the visit, the volunteers conducted a cleanliness drive at the Damla temple premises. They cleaned the temple interior and surrounding areas, spreading awareness about the importance of cleanliness. Later, they sang ‘bhajans’, and performed ‘aarti’.
Blood donation camp
Karnal: To commemorate the 14th death anniversary of Dr R S Bhatia (the founding president of Pratap Group of Institutions), a blood donation camp was organised at Pratap Public School, Sector 6, in Karnal on Friday in collaboration with the Haryana State Blood Donation Transmission Council. The event was inaugurated by president Ajay Bhatia. Donors included members of the school management, staff and area residents.
Women’s rights, hardships discussed
Kaithal: A women’s awareness camp was recently organised at Indira Gandhi College, Kaithal. The camp was organised by the Mahila Madadgar Samiti under the joint aegis of the Women Cell, Grievance and Redressal Committee and ICCASH. SHO Veena, as the chief guest at the event, talked about women’s rights. The Madadgar Samiti president also addressed the students, talking about women’s roles, hardships, struggles and achievements in various fields.
