The Department of Hindi at Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Yamunanagar, celebrated World Hindi Day with great enthusiasm and academic fervour. The event, aimed at promoting the global importance of the Hindi language, saw participation from students, faculty members and dignitaries. Officiating principal Pratima Sharma, in her address, emphasised the role of Hindi as a medium that united people across diverse cultures and geographical locations. She highlighted that Hindi was not just a language but a bridge that connected millions of people globally. It was essential that they promoted and preserved the language not only in India but on international platforms in order to strengthen their cultural roots and promote linguistic diversity, she said. Head of the department of Hindi Vinay Chandel expressed his pride in the vibrant celebration of the day. He said the day served as an important reminder of the rich history of Hindi and its growing influence globally. The event was graced by the presence of IQAC coordinator Catherine Masih.
Placement drive conducted
Hisar: The department of commerce and career guidance and placement cell organised a placement drive at Government College for Women, Hisar. Institutions and firms, including NIIT and Axis Bank, conducted interviews for the position of assistant manager during the drive. Representatives from NIIT briefed students about the importance of various aspects of interviews. The panel included Kavita Dhawal, Vijay Singh and Surya Singh from the NIIT. The college principal, Dr Satbir Singh Sanga, emphasised the importance of interview skills, personality development and communication. As many as 120 students registered and 46 participated in the first round of the drive.
Lecture on mental health
Karnal: A lecture on ‘Awareness on mental health and drug de-addiction’ was organised by the drug and tobacco control cell in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit at Dyal Singh College. The event was aimed at raising awareness among students and faculty about the critical issues surrounding mental health and the perils of drug abuse. The speaker for the session was Dr Saubhagya, a renowned expert from DCH Civil Hospital, Karnal, He was accompanied by her team members — Dr Santosh, clinical psychologist; Pooja, Community Health Officer; and Harsh, a dedicated social worker. Dr Saubhagya shared valuable insights into the harmful effects of drugs on mental health, emphasising the importance of early intervention and de-addiction programmes. Associate professor and officiating principal of the college Rajpal encouraged students to actively engage in such awareness programmes and help spread knowledge about mental wellbeing. Vivek Parkash, the nodal officer of the drug and tobacco control cell, was also present.
