Cancellation of workers’ registration: Vij directs action against officials
Haryana Labour Minister Anil Vij has directed officials of the Labour Department to take departmental action against personnel who wrongly cancelled the registration of construction workers.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the Haryana Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board, chaired by Vij on Tuesday.
Vij took the step after meeting a delegation of registered construction workers, who informed him that their registrations had been unjustly cancelled. A review of the issue revealed that nearly 50,000 construction workers had been removed from the registered list without any valid reason.
The minister expressed concern over the impractical verification process, stating, "It is not possible for a single employee to verify 2,000 construction workers in a day. Strict action should be taken against the employees responsible."
He further directed officials to reinvestigate the names blocked incorrectly and ordered that "until the process is completed, no construction worker should be removed from the registered list."
