Candidates turn poll battle musical to woo voters
The political battle in the state’s biggest Assembly segment Badshahpur is getting intense and both BJP and Congress leaders are using all techniques to woo voters. BJP veteran and former minister Rao Narbir and Congress’ debutant youth leader Vardhan Yadav have released their election anthems to draw voters.
While Vardhan has opted for two songs composed by local artistes to woo rural and urban voters separately, Narbir has got his anthem worded on tune of Haryanavi dancer Sapna Chowdhary’s popular number ‘Teri Aankhya ka yo Kajal’. Vardhan, in his first song targeting senior citizens and rural population of the segment, has projected himself as not the ‘’neta’’ but ‘Badhshpur ka Beta and Chhora’ who would be available 24X7 for all the residents. His second song titled ‘Haryana ki Umang’ targets youth voters with a catchy pop tune and English rap.
“Be it youth or elders, everybody is hooked to social media and catchy songs, so this is the best way to communicate in short who I am and what I offer. Badshahpur is a unique constituency probably most different in the entire state. We have high-rises and posh areas along with villages that are still struggling to match up with the millennium city.
The voter base too is different and it needs a leader who can fit both the bills. I will be ‘Badhshapur Ka Chhora and Beta’ for the core senior rural voters and remain available 24X7 to help them and resolve issues. I am also one of the youth of Haryana and share aspirations vision and fervor of my urban voters and youngsters to have a better tomorrow,” said Yadav, while speaking to The Tribune.
Rao Narbir, on the other hand, has stuck to politicising his veteran image but with a twist of calling himself ‘Khalis Neta’ who will bring back the BJP wave. The song talks about his achievements while being a minister from 2014 to 2019. Narbir caught the national attention by accepting the civic crises in Gurugram during an exclusive interaction with The Tribune. He says his truthfulness is his true quality.
“I call spade a spade and I am not here to fool anybody. The millennium city needs a true and practical leader. Yes I accept that the millennium city is a mess and in critical situation. I don’t promise I will make it Singapore, but I will give you a well-managed clean city that you can be proud of. The coalition with the JJP cost us our credibility and the song says we will bring back the BJP wave,” says Narbir.
The Badshahpur Assembly segment has over five lakh votes.
