Car driver crushes 3 to death in Panipat

Panipat, September 2

Three persons were crushed to death by a car near Mehrana village in Panipat on Sunday evening. The Model Town police have registered a case and begun a probe into the matter.

The deceased have been identified as Anil Prasad (26), his father-in-law Nandlal Prasad (55) of Bihar and Sana Kartik (30) of West Bengal. Simpi Devi, wife of deceased Anil Prasad in her complaint to the Model Town police, said that she along with her husband, father Nandlal and their friend Sana was on their way to their house in Mehrana village on foot on the roadside when a white-coloured speeding car directly hit her husband, father and Sana.

She said after hitting the trio, the car overturned. On seeing the accident, scores of people gathered at the spot. The car driver and another person sitting in the car were found heavily drunk and the car was being driven at a very high speed, some people told the police. One of the persons in the car managed to flee from the spot. However, people gathered at the spot handed over the car driver to the police. The police handed over bodies to their kin today after a postmortem examination.
