Case against Badoli: 2 accused walk into police trap, arrested
Two of the six accused — Mehak and Amit Bindal — in the alleged honey trap and extortion case linked to the allegations of rape against singer Rocky Mittal and BJP leader Mohan Lal Badoli walked into a police trap in Panchkula on Wednesday, when they arrived to negotiate with Mittal for withdrawing the rape case. As soon as they arrived, the police, who had been tracking their movements, swiftly arrested them.
According to police sources, the two accused had been in touch with Mittal, pressuring him to pay Rs 50 lakh to settle the sexual assault complaint. On Thursday, believing they could strike a financial deal, they came to Panchkula, unaware that the police had laid a trap to nab them. They are currently in police remand.
Meanwhile, the woman who accused Mittal and Badoli of rape remains absconding, even as police teams are searching for her. The role of the remaining accused is also under investigation, and they are yet to be arrested.
Investigators have secured crucial evidence, including voice recordings and chat screenshots, which are being examined. Officials stated that the digital evidence could further establish the extortion plot.
