Challans not paid, 65 vehicles impounded in Mahendragarh
In a bid to enforce strict adherence to traffic rules, the Mahendragarh police have initiated a special campaign targeting those who have failed to pay their traffic fines even after 90 days. The initiative aims at addressing the rising number of unpaid challans.
As part of this campaign, the traffic police have impounded around 65 vehicles whose owners had failed to pay their fine within the stipulated time frame. The vehicles were held until the drivers paid their outstanding penalties.
“Earlier in February, a public awareness drive was carried out in the district to urge motorists to clear their dues. Following this, the police have adopted a more stringent approach. The traffic police have now launched a special operation to identify and detain vehicles with long-pending fines. In collaboration with police station managers and outpost incharges, the traffic police ensured that any vehicle with unpaid challans for 90 days or more was subject to detention,” said a spokesman for the district police.
The traffic police have emphasised that drivers must pay their fines within the given time period to avoid detention of their vehicles. They have also urged the public to comply with traffic regulations and avoid unnecessary delays in settling their fines.
“The detained vehicles will only be released upon payment of the outstanding fines. The action is being taken under the provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act,” the spokesman added.
