Chased by cops, youth dies after falling off rooftop in Hisar

A controversy erupted following the death of a 16-year-old boy who was trying to escape police action after a clash between a group of persons and cops in Bharat Nagar locality in Hisar town.

The family of the victim sat on a dharna at the Civil Hospital, demanding action against the cops and served an ultimatum till 10 am tomorrow.

The deceased, identified as Ganesh, died after an altercation between youths and the police during a birthday party. The clash began when the police asked them to stop playing loud DJ music on the road late at night.

According to the police, they were attacked with stones when they tried to intervene. As the cops pursued the suspects on the rooftop, two boys reportedly jumped off out of fear. Ganesh, a Class 10 student, was seriously injured and later died in hospital.

His family refused to take the body and demanded action against the police. They alleged that police personnel beat Ganesh and pushed him off the roof.

The police claim that the accused, including history-sheeters Shubham and Shiva, attacked the police, seriously injuring two cops, Vinod Kumar and Mahender, who were hospitalised.

A case has been filed at HTM police station based on Inspector Vinod's complaint. Four policemen were reportedly injured, and several individuals have been named in the FIR.

Hisar Mayor Praveen Popli met the victim's family and promised a fair investigation.
