Chaudhary Devi Lal University students protest admission rule
Sirsa, July 29
Students at Chaudhary Devi Lal University, cutting across party lines, have opposed a newly introduced rule that bars students from reapplying for admission after completing a course.
The students on Monday gathered on the university campus under the leadership of Ajay Kumar, Jatin, Pradeep, Rajendra, Vijay, Ajaad, Lovely, Mandeep, Satbir Sahni and Sumit Mehta and submitted a memorandum to Registrar Rajesh Kumar Bansal.
Ajay Kumar alleged that the rule was against the interests of students and must be revoked immediately. He alleged that the university administration was repeatedly implementing policies that were anti-student. He cited instances where such decisions had “adversely affected the future of students”.
Kumar sought the Haryana Government’s intervention to resolve the matter and hold those responsible for framing such “anti-student” policies accountable.
The students emphasised that the new rule did not serve their interests and called for its prompt withdrawal. They demanded that the university authorities ensure that policies jeopardising the future of students weren’t introduced in first place. They warned of protests if their demand was not accepted. The students also demanded immediate filling of vacant seats in various courses.
The Registrar, in response, said the vacant seats would be filled through offline method instead of online. He advised the prospective candidates to contact the university department concerned directly for admission enquiries.
