Chandigarh, April 20

Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala has directed the officials concerned to check the safety measures related to fire and gas leakage in the chemical storage of all industries in the state. He directed them to prepare a standard operating procedure (SOP) in this regard.

Dushyant said the industries should complete all formalities in the next 60 days. After that, surprise inspections would be conducted.

The Deputy CM, who also holds the portfolio of the Industries and Commerce Department, was presiding over a meeting of senior officers of the Labour Department, the Department of Industries and Commerce and the Fire Services here on Wednesday.

Dushyant, while expressing concern over the recent incident of the death of labourers in a sewage treatment plant and many other incidents like the burning of crops in the fields in Hisar and Bhiwani, said the lives and goods of the poor, labourers, farmers and shopkeepers were important for the government. —
