Chief Minister orders strict action against tanker mafia in Gurugram
Says the government’s top priority is to ensure that every resident receives high-quality basic amenities within the stipulated timeframe

Warning against any laxity and negligence in maintaining Gurugram’s civic infrastructure, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said it was face of Haryana and cannot be ignored. Saini, who was in here today to address District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee meeting, directed officials to prepare and submit a detailed report on the current status of the water supply, sewerage systems and sewage treatment plants (STPs) in the city at the earliest.
He said the government’s top priority was to ensure that every resident of Gurugram receives high-quality basic amenities within the stipulated timeframe.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister directed stringent action against the tanker mafia operating in the city. He said those involved in the illegal supply of water in a modern city like Gurugram would not be spared under any circumstances. If anyone was found illegally supplying or purifying water, the department concerned must take immediate action in accordance with the rules, he said. Saini also instructed the Police Commissioner to promptly address complaints received from citizens in such cases and ensure that the SHO of the area concerned acts on a priority basis.
The aim was to prevent any disruption in the supply of safe and clean drinking water to the public, he said.
In all, 17 complaints were taken up during the meeting. Of these, the Chief Minister resolved 15 on the spot, while two were kept pending for further consideration. He directed officials concerned to submit a status report on the pending cases at the next meeting.
Saini took a serious note of complaints regarding builders and directed officials that all builders must ensure residents of their projects receive the basic amenities specified in the agreement such as water, electricity, sewerage, roads and security on time. He said any builder failing to comply or acting contrary to the agreement would face strict action.
The Chief Minister also immediately addressed a complaint regarding delays in online Intkal registration and ordered an investigation against the Naib Tehsildar. During the meeting, Manveer Singh, sarpanch of Bahoda Kala village, reported that the work on laying sewer lines in the village had been ongoing for the past three years, but remained incomplete. During this period, the department had dug up the entire route, causing significant inconvenience to villagers. Officials explained that the delay was due to pending permissions and NOCs from various departments. Saini directed that immediate action be taken against official whose negligence led to delay in clearance of the file and his increment be stopped.
