Children born on Makar Sankranti bring double joy for families
The festival of Makar Sankranti brought double celebrations for several families in the district on Tuesday as new lives entered the world. Makar Sankranti is celebrated to welcome the transition of Sun into Capricorn or ‘makar rashi’ of the zodiac. It is believed to bring prosperity and happiness in the lives of people.
Rekha, wife of Ramesh from Ashok Nagar, delivered a baby boy at 11 am on Tuesday. The couple is already parents to a boy and a girl. After the birth of this boy, the family members are happy about the timing of their newborn’s arrival.
“It feels so special that our baby was born on such an auspicious festival. This day has brought double happiness to our family,” said Rekha, mother-in-law of Rekha while thanking God for a healthy baby, at Karnal District Civil Hospital.
At 12 pm, a woman named Mala, wife of Rajinder of Subhash Gate, gave birth to a baby girl. The family, which is already blessed with two sons, had been praying for a daughter. “We had prayed for a baby girl, and on this holy day, our prayers were fulfilled. She is truly a blessing from God,” said Santosh, grandmother of the newborn.
“It feels wonderful that a daughter, our Lakshmi, was born on this festival. It is God’s blessing,” said another family member.
Meanwhile, people celebrated the festival with enthusiasm and rituals like kite-flying, feasting and donating to the needy.
